Open Letter to Customers
When Adelphi Construction is bidding on projects, I am often asked to explain our business approach, focus areas, and keys to our success. I welcome this dialogue, because those are questions that should be asked before deciding to entrust a construction company with a major project. Yes, cost is always an important factor, and Adelphi Construction is competitive on cost. However, customers who utilize Adelphi Construction on one project usually become long term customers because they see three key aspects: (1) our efficient work process; (2) how we encourage customer collaboration; and (3) how we meet our commitments regarding schedule and budget.
Efficient Work Process. Adelphi Construction was founded to provide cost-effective installation of air pollution control equipment (baghouses) and bulk storage systems. Customers noticed a difference in our workflow and processes and requested Adelphi Construction bid their larger turnkey projects as well as repair and maintenance projects. In the last four years Adelphi Construction has continued to refine our work processes while completing several extremely large projects simultaneously. The differences in our workflow begin with project management, and flow through procurement, documentation, field installation, commissioning, and startup. We have access to our own equipment supply (via company-owned fabrication facilities), and also strong buying power to ensure on-time delivery. Compared to other construction companies, Adelphi Construction projects have a noticeable difference in focus, craftsmanship, and insistence on safety. We are a lean company that can flex resources to take on any size of project. Our crews are well managed and held accountable for daily progress. We take pride in our work, and ensure each employee feels a sense of ownership and accountability in projects. Our EMR is consistently one of the best in our industry, because safety is a culture within Adelphi Construction and not just a slogan.
Encourage Customer Participation and Collaboration. At Adelphi Construction, we don’t have layers upon layers of excess staff and admin. We know our customers, and they know us. During any project, our management team is in constant contact with key people within the customer organization, whether on site or at corporate. Our goal is to keep each customer fully aware of our progress, challenges, and timelines. We maintain strong customer relationships to enable critical decisions quickly and collaboratively to keep projects moving forward. Our construction managers know and rely on each other in a cooperative manner. We maintain constant dialogue with engineers and architects. Every day, one of my tasks is to ask, “who needs to be aware of this?”. We believe that open and honest communication internally and with our customers is vital to any successful project.
Meeting Our Commitments. Adelphi Construction has earned a reputation for committing to – and delivering on – accelerated timelines and strict budgets. Our experience, flexibility, and communication enable us to eliminate costly delays in manpower, equipment, or decision making. We have an outstanding team of project managers and estimators who create detailed project plans and actively participate in startup of
the plant. This ensures they think about how to operate the plant as they build the plant. We don’t bid
shorter timelines just to win a project and then change the schedule later. We carefully consider what
we can accomplish and confidently present that to customers. It’s our promise and we take it very
I mention Adelphi Construction being lean and flexible, but that doesn’t mean we have limited capabilities. I
encourage you to consider our current work in Sinton, TX which is one of the largest baghouse projects
in the world. One of the most unique aspects of Adelphi Construction is that we can execute projects ranging from
<$50k to >$100M. We can provide engineering and design, or we can work with the Owner’s Engineer.
We can erect/commission one piece of equipment, or build an entire greenfield plant. And everything
we do is at a fair price.
This may sound too good to be true, but it’s not. We encourage you to see one of our completed
projects and talk to our customers. At Adelphi Construction we are proud of our accomplishments and we look
forward to working on your next project.
